I have a late 1941 Mercury. I am trying to find out how to remove the ignition switch knob to replace it? (same as the Ford) Also how do you remove the knob on the convertible top switch?

If you are talking about removing the chrome lever that operates the ignition switch, it is an involved procedure that requires removing the ignition switch and the chrome end cap. There is an article about doing this on a 1936 Ford in the September - October 2002 V-8 Times. It should be similar to your 1941 Mercury.

I have never done this and do not know how to remove the end cap without destroying it and don't know where you could get a new end cap.

I do not know how to remove the top switch knob. try asking the 1941 Advisor.
