Topic: mercury coupe 1949 carburator leaking

I am writing in the hope that you have a minute to dedicate to me.

I am the owner of a 1949 mercury coupe and I have a problem with the carburetor.
from the rigid fuel delivery pipe that goes to the carburetor I noticed that I had some leaks (dripping..) see red arrow in att photo ... I tightened the bolts a little more and the dripping has decreased a lot.
I come to the question! Can I continue to tighten? Or do I risk breaking something?
I own the 1949-1951 Lincoln & Mercury overhaul & shop manual
I am writing to you in the hope of a kind response from you, but I do not expect anything more.

If the leak is from the base of the carburetor , you can try replacing the inlet adapter gasket with a fresh one. Do NOT over tighten the adapter as it screws into pot metal that may be brittle after 75 years.

If the leak is from the fuel line, you can tighten it more. If that does not stop the leak, check the line for cracks.

A little lube on he threads always helps anything tighten better; other wise you may feel it's tight; when it really isn't! That's a good HABIT!!

Lube the male and female threads , without lube tightness may be false. Always lube all pipe conections; male and female!!it could stop that small leak!!
