How do I clean my air cleaner? Is there a way to replace the mating in the cleaner?

Remove the top portion of the air cleaner and dump the oil. Clean the reservoir and fill to the level indicator with 50W oil in the summer and 20w in the winter. Clean the element in the top by soaking it in a solvent to remove the oil and dirt. Let the element drain and then assemble and install the air cleaner.

It should not be necessary to replace the element and no provision has been made to do this. If yours is beyond cleaning or missing, you should look for another air cleaner.

Thanks Tom: I was hooping there was a way to replace the element. What do you recommend for a solvent?

Cheap mineral spirits paint thinner or maybe try some Walmart brand brake cleaner in the spray can.

Mineral spirits, kerosene . I would not use brake cleaner because it is hard to saturate the element and it drys quickly. Simple Green, purple Power and other degreasing detergents will also work, but they have a longer drying time than the petrleum products.

Why do you want to replace the element? Is yours damaged or so crusty that you think it will never come clean?
