Restoring a 47 Merc Convertible, there is an oak board with metal edging recessed for the hump. This appears to mount between the cylinder towers. Is there an exploded drawing available to show how it is installed. Are there brackets and what would they look like. We have many extra pieces of stuff and not sure if we have the right stuff.

I am attaching the only body diagram that I have seen. It is from the Ford 44-52 body parts catalog, which is available from many vendors, such as C&G. We used it during the restoration of my '47 convertible. It doesn't seem to show the part you mention, which supports the front edge of the rear seat. We had to make ours, and attached it to the floor pan with angle braces. The front face is covered by carpet. Restoring any convertible is a challenge, as most body parts are different from closed cars, and have long been obsolete.

Thank you very much. Every little bit is helpful.
