Can someone explain to me why my brake lights on my 40 only work if the car is running?I have had a lot of problems in the past with them working.Right now I have new switch from NAPA installed and I think it is a fomoco part?

Do you have an original wiring harness in the car or has it been rewired with non original wiring? The brake switch should have a "constant hot" wire going to one side of the switch, so it will activate the lights at any time. If your car has been rewired it's possible the switch does not have a "constant hot". Are you having other wiring issues?

There should be a green wire from the circuit breaker board to one side of the brake switch, the other side of the switch goes to the brake lights. The green wire is connected with the Yellow wire with red tracer and the black wire with a blue tracer for the pillar lights.
