  Is there any special way to remove the hood on a 40. Any suggetions would be appreciated.

  No special tricks whatsoever. Depending on why you are removing it, you may want to do it in one of two ways.
If you are removing it to work on the engine, etc., I'd suggest you leave the supports and hinges on the body and detach them from the hood.
If you plan on painting and the hood fits as it currently is, I'd suggest you mark the supports and hinges at the body very carefully prior to removal.

  Mike brings up an excellent suggestion on marking the hood so that when you replace it there won't be any alignment issues. One suggestion is to drill two 1/8" holes between the hinge bracket and hood so that when it comes time to reinstall it you place 4, 1/8" pins in the holes and it will be returned to the exact position before you removed it. Also scribing around the hinge and hood works also. If it is only going to be removed for a short time "blue tape" works also.
