  As far as I know NO 32 -48 Fords have a key head shaped like so , maybe earler like "A" or "T" . OMO ken ct.

  Shogun, The key to the right in your photo is correct for 1940. The key to the left was apparently supplied by the dealer or perhaps a local locksmith. Regardless of who supplied it, it is not correct.
The shape of the key(s) in your photo is correct. This particular key would be for the glove box and trunk locks.
The ignition keys were shaped differently and to possibly complicate matters, they were supplied (with locks of course) to Ford by both Briggs & Stratton as well as Hurd.
In the photo I've attached please note the left and right keys are for the ignition and door locks. Pay particular attention to the company name on each.
The key in the center of my photo is for the glove box and trunk.

It is possible to have had a '40 Ford originally fitted with (example) door and ignition locks supplied by B&S and the trunk and glove box locks supplied by Hurd.

  Guess I'm more familier with 36 keys ,small round head for ign. & door and football shape for glove and trunk. My mistake. ken ct.
