The oblong rubber bumper that goes on each side of the hood toward the front.Does the thinner side face down or up when installing on the hood?I just happen to notice a difference before I installed it on the hood.

The thinner side goes down. More often than not, you'll find it necessary to trim the rubber bumpers for a better fit.
