OK! How do you put the clevis pin in the hood handle? From what I can see you can't put it on before the handle goes in and the angle is to steep from the inside?

The clevis? The clevis can be installed when the hood ornament / handle is in place upon the hood. Perhaps the clevis you have is too long??? If you are referring to the rivet that holds the handle to the hood ornament, that must be installed before the ornament / handle assembly is fastened to the hood.
