My 40 Ford tool compartment is lined with a tar paper like material. Is this correct as per original? Thanks, Steve

Steve, Ford lined the tool trays with the same material that was sandwiched between the outer trunk lid and inner structure. many refer to this material as "waffle" paper. It was done in two pieces, the right side being installed first. The second (left) side was then installed and over lapped the right side just a tad. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Steve, I tried to locate you as I really wanted some photos of your interior for the book. I had left my card on the windshield when the car was parked at the hotel. Perhaps we can speak??? Thanks, Mike

Mike, I'm so sorry I missed you in Charlotte! Aside from somehow not getting the card you left, I did want to thank you in person for all you do for 40 lovers in general and in particular for helping me personally with a number of questions I've had over the past couple years. My interest in the 40 Ford stems from the cloudmist 4dr standard that I grew up with and learned how to drive on. My dad bought the car new in 40 and was the family car until 1961. I've had a number of 40's over the years including a mandarin maroon sedan that I restored and drove to the national meet in Dearborn 1973 from eastern PA. The cloudmist 4dr I presently have is the most original, rust free, unmolested 40 I have ever owned. I have learned much from your forum answers and comments both here and the Ford Barn. Thanks again for all do, Steve. svmbcs@aol.com

Steve, I'd sent you an email a while back... no response makes me wonder if you'd received it. I'd really like to correspond with you in regard to your car. Thanks much. Mike

Hi Mike, On the waffle sheeting, I caller C&G, they sell it in two thickness, 1/8" and 3/32" and in the color black. Any recommendations on color and thickness? My car is black. Thanks

Ken, I use the 3/32". If you need some tips when you are ready to install, let me know. Lord knows, I have done enough of these. Do you have the old ones for a pattern? Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Drake sells the correct stuff. As I recall he sells it by 3' x 8' rolls. Around $100.
