  Hi,
I know that this has been discussed before, but I cannot find it.
Was the front and rear axles assy. put together and then painted,or
Were they painted and then assembled? Would there be paint
On the shoe adjuster and anchors, backing plate bolts and cotter
Pins ,axle housing bolts? I read where some cars received touch
up when built, But what about the ones that didn't? I am hoping to have my car judged at a early ford show and was wanting to do
It the correct way.
Thanks very much ,

Ronnie

The front and rear chassis parts were painted and then assembled.
As you'd noted, there was on occasion a "chassis touch up" done. It was very haphazard at best and was meant only to cover areas a consumer might see upon a casual inspection.
Thus, typically, even with a "chassis touch up" there would be little to no paint applied to the backing plates.
That being the case and with the assumption you are attempting to build a high point car, you'll want to "error" on the side of detail. That is, no paint on gaskets, bolts, etc.
If I can ever be of any help during your restoration please feel free to contact me.
Kind regards,
Mike "Kube" Kubarth
