I have an early 1940 Ford Coupe. Looking to put the correct carburetor on it - Holley 94 Model 91-99. In photos that I have found looking down into the carburetor some have what I believe is called a balance tube and some don't. I'm confused as to what is correct. As always, I appreciate your input.

The 91-99 has an external vent, above and to the right of the fuel inlet, it is in a vertical oval shape. Others you have seen with the internal vent tube were mismatched to the 91-99 base. Color of the castings will usually give away the mismatch even before seeing the vent location. There was an additional location tried before the internal vent, that being behind the accelerator pump. Again, the only correct carb for your car will have the external vent next to the fuel inlet.

You are correct Alan,I believe the internal vent tube was first used on the 21-29 carbs for the 42 yr,OMO. ken ct.
