I found an easy way to tighten the generator/ water pump belt on a 59AB. With the gen. nut loosened and the belt in place, take a valve spring compressor [the curved type that has a screw that oepns and closes the jaws] and place it under the gen. and screw it in and jiggle the gen. at the same time, or use a pry bar,too. When you get the correct tension on the belt, tighten the gen. nut. With this done, it's fairly easy to adjust the fan.
