Topic: Coil Voltage

I recently had the original coil and distributor on my 1940 Ford rebuilt, and the car now starts instantly and runs great. However, I am getting 6.3 volts on the coil post with the points open, and only 2.8 with the points closed. Is this something to be concerned about?

Don't worry. Those numbers are OK.

voltage changes when there is a "load" placed on it, load being charging the coil for spark. the resistor lowers voltage under this load
