Topic: Snap location Convertible Boot?

FRITZ47    -- 06-20-2013 @ 8:15 AM
We just finished a new top installation of my '40 Ford Convertible and have the boot made, but do not know for sure this exact information:

Number of snaps to attach the boot and location (space between, etc.).

We sure hate to get it wrong at this point.
Hoping for some help. Thanks,

Fritz

I couldn't find any "official" snap spacing for the boot. Starting at the center of the tack strip where the top is secured to the body, we install the male part of the snaps six inches apart. Then, the boot is laid next to the snaps and marked for the female snaps. On my '47, we placed a row of snaps behind the back seat, and at the ends of the boot. This secures the boot so it doesn't flap at hiway speeds. My top was installed at one of the best trim shops in the country, and that is how they did it.
