Topic: Under side of hood color?

Under side of hood color? Painting my 1940 Ford Convertible maroon and have the hood off. Body color? (or)????

Thanks for some advice. Fritz

The underside of the hood was painted body color. Please note that the brackets (that the hood supports bolt to) as well as the hinges and all of their respective hardware were also painted body color.
The hinges were fastened to the hood and the safety wire placed through those bolts prior to painting. THEN the hood was installed upon the body.
The cross brace near the front of the hood was black, regardless of body color.

Here's a photo of the underside of a 39 hood. Although the sheet metal and braces are a tad different than a '40, the manufacturing & painting process were the same.

Wow! Talk about a fast response. I printed the picture of the under hood and engine and will be bringing it to work tomorrow for final detailing. I also have another question that I will post separately. Thank you very much.

  Beautiful car!
Did I not read earlier that the firewall was to be black, no matter the body color?
My apology. That only applied to 1932, or it was in that forum!

Firewall was painted at the same time as the body. Thus, it too is body color.
