Topic: 40 deluxe Dash Paint

My 40 Deluxe Coupe body is nearing completion. The paint shop asked for dash colors.
I thought the Dash was the same "Mandarin Maroon" as the body. On this forum under "correct 1940 Ford Dash color" from beau, a "rose Metallic" and a "brown" are speced out. I am just trying to confirm the correct colors before we paint. Would this "rose Metalic also be the rite color for the strg column, E brake handle.
Also, what is the correct paint or closest color for the window garnish mouldings. They appear to be a wood grain originally, but I don't know if that can be duplicated. In the "40 Ford Book" it calls for Monaida Maroon and Rose Sand metallic on the dash.

The main part of your dash is in fact painted Monaida Maroon. The center of the steering wheel (spokes & hub)as well as the steering column are also Monaida Maroon. The glove box door (both sides & the hinge) as well as the outer ends of your dash (surrounding the ashtray area and the ash tray lids are all painted Rose Sand metallic.
The handbrake, cowl panel retainer strips are a medium brown color of which I can't recall the name of at this moment.
The window moldings are wood grained as you surmised and yes, it is entirely possible to replicate that grain correctly.
Hope this helps,
Mike Kubarth

if you want to try some paint colors that were matched by a dupont dealer--here goes Rose Sand Metallic-1961 Lincoln Code Z Desert Frost Metallic (4234). For Monaida Maroon-Mercedees Code DB 573 Bordeaux Red also 1977 Cadillac Madeira Maroon #79 (8762) You may want to try these-they are onat least 4-- 40's that I know of and look very correct

Thanks, I will send this on to the paint guy and with the pics from kubes he should be able to get it rite. Who dose the woodgrain finish on the window garnish or should any good paint shop be able to do it. I am 250 miles from the shop that is doing the body. Sending the garnishes out to have them done rite is not out of the question, just don't want someone to learn on mine.
