  hi all i have a 1948 mercury converible with a columbia overdrive but when i put it in overdrive the speedo stops working can anyone help .vacuum wipers are poor also thankyou roger

  I suspect the control cable that runs to the two-speed gearbox on the back of your
speedometer is out of adjustment. If the cable doesn't move the shift arm on the side of the gearbox far enough, it can hang up in "neutral".

  thanks stroker that may help me can i buy any books to explain how to do all of the ajustments . i live in australia and the car doesnt comein from the states until 14th november.thanks roger

  thanks stroker have talked to John he said could be dual diaphragms in the unit or as you said ajustment.You cant buy new units so hope you were right thanks mate
