Did the original H-10 champion spark plugs that came from the factory in new 1940 cars have Ford printed on them? I have 10 NOS H-9 #01T-12405 that have Ford on them. I have compared them to some original H-10's I have and the only physical is that the porcelain neck of the H-9's are longer.I am thinking of making them into H-10's if the Original H-10's came with Ford on them? What are your ideas on this? Thanks Tom.

Tom, It remains ambiguous whether or not our '40 Fords came with "FORD" (block lettered) H-10 spark plugs from the factory or those were service replacement plugs. I have sets of both - some with the "FORD" and others without. During my research, I have yet to come upon anything that is definitive one way or the other. Nor am I aware of anyone else that has any proof that would lead us to answer this with confidence.

The length of the porcelain neck on the plug is related to the "heat" rating. The longer the neck, the cooler the plug. I prefer to use Champion RJ14YC plugs instead of the H-10's. They tend to foul less. I don't show my cars, so being "correct" is less important.
