What is the best way to remove the fuel pump pushrod bushing from an engine that has the camshaft and all valvetrain parts installed? Is there a special tool available to facilitate this job? Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

It requires a "slide hammer" that grips the bushing, then pulls it out by sliding the weight on the shaft of the puller. Those bushings are constantly bathed in oil from the valve gallery. The only reason they are usually replaced is because of low oil pressure. Excess clearance at the bushing will allow oil to escape the gallery. All of these bushings do leak a bit, but usually not enough to warrant replacement.

Snap-On makes a real neat small bushing puller that I have used on things like that. They are called 'BLIND HOLE BEARING PULLERS" The set no. is CG 40 CB, but just get the components you need, not the whole set.

Usually there is no need to replace the bushing as they do not wear much. The push rod is a sloppy fit in the stock bushing. Tom
