Topic: 39 Pick up frame compatibilty w/40 Paneltruck

I have read the discussion on the 39-40 frame compatibility between the passenger car and the sedan delivery already posted . I would like to know if a 1940 panel truck can be mounted on 1939 pickup frame? The original frame is in terrible shape. Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.

In my experience, almost any body can be mounted on any frame, given the time and ambition. The "ordinary" half ton pickups closely resemble the cars. It is when you rise above that level that things get "interesting". Usually, the dividing line is when the drive line goes from the usual torque tube to the open drive shaft configuration. Then, the spring mounts change from the transverse to parallel, requiring more modification than is welsome.

The sedan delivery uses the passenger car frame. The panel delivery is possibly a "different animal". The 40 passenger car and sedan delivery have a 112" wheel base. Determine the wheelbase of the panel delivery and the track width. If it compares to the passenger car then you probably can use a passenger car frame. If it is longer than 112" then you will need to use the frame from a 3/4 ton or larger pickup/truck.
