Morning, picked up the 1940 Ford book and read it last night, on page 3-2 last para. in closed car roof it states that two-door sedan has one assist strap, on passenger's side door post. My barn find car two-door sedan frame # 18-5527419 has 2 ,, the second being on the drivers ,, by all appearance of the strap and headliner cloth this piece has always been on this car.
thanks
Beau

Is the barn find a deluxe car? I think the standard cars had one assist strap and the deluxe had two.

yes it is a Deluxe ,, the other deluxe,, the one that I'm replaceing the interior in only has one, doesn't appear to ever had the driver side assist ,, has any one else ever came across this ?

The Body Parts catalog and the sales material for 1940 do not show an assist loop for the standard cars, just for the Deluxe cars.
