what can U tell me about this add on Heater , I have more pics but it only let me post just this view, blower mounts above the cyl. head , tube goes down to this chamber on exhaust pipe ,another tube comes up then connected to firewall by a metal flex pipe, to a manifold in side that had defrost or floor vents

It sounds like the Ford hot air heater available in the 30's and 40's. Here is a drawing from the parts catalog. What other information would you like to have.

Yeap thats it , Thanks for the pic.,just getting into the forty's so my knowledge is alittle lacking on what was available from Ford at that time, now if I could just find part #s 15118 and 15119 this one would be complete. GG
Thanks Beau

  Beau,
It appears you have a factory installed hot air heater. A rather expensive option in 1940 priced at about $20 - installed.
You may want to contact Larry Caplan for the parts you need. He's a great source of heater parts and a wealth of information in that regard.
Usually, the parts absent from these heaters are the shroud at the radiator, the flex hose (cloth covered wire) between the shroud and blower motor and the correct heater switch.
Ford advised the removal of the shroud and flex tube during summer operation. You can easily imagine what happened to those parts once removed and placed in the garage 'somewhere'.
