Hello agian, after reading most of the post last night on the 40 ford , I have a Q , is there a difference between the early models and the late/after Mar trunk handles. Thanks Beau

I had a very expensive NOS trunk handle on my '47 until a numbskull rear ended me a couple of years ago. I installed a replacement from Drake that looked good, but promptly fell apart. I complained, and they replaced it with one they said they made, which was considerably better than the foreign repro they had been selling. They were right. I can't tell the difference from the NOS, except it was vastly less expensive, and now we don't need to unlock it each time we open the trunk lid. I assume the handle for your '40 would be good, too, but I'd ask who made it when ordering.

  Beau,
There were no design changes of the trunk handle or base during the '40 model year.
The current reproduction that drake offers is pretty close to the real McCoy. personally, I prefer NOS or a replated original part as it has the correct markings on the back of the handle.
hope this helps.
