Who does a very accurate restoration of a 1940 Ford fuel pump? Right finishes, hardware, etc? Thanks, Chris

Chris, I am not aware of anyone that does a concourse restoration on pumps. As rebuilding a fuel pump is a rather straight forward process - one that can easily be handled by anyone with even minor mechanical skills, I'd suggest you do this job yourself. That way, you are assured it is done correctly and to the standard you are attempting to achieve. I can help you with proper finishes, etc. to the minutest detail. Mike Kubarth

Chrismac, be aware that there have been posts on the Fordbarn about diaphragms that had the holes punched wrong and will not fit the pump. I would try the Antique Auto Parts Cellar for the kit as most of the other suppliers use the same vendor as Mac's http://www.maritimedragracing.com/antique_auto_parts_cellar.htm Tom

By the time you buy a good quality kit, you have a good portion of the cost of a new replacement. Not only diaphragms and valves wear out, the lever, particularly the pivot, usually need to be replaced. I'd opt for a new one.

The replacement fuel pumps are not correct for a 1940 Concourse car, which is what Chris is building. The outlet is in the wrong place and the diameter is incorrect. Tom

I've looked in Hemmings and the club magazine as well as other sources. Can't find someone who sells a rebuild kit for this pump. Lots of places will rebuild the pump but I want to do it to get it exactly right. Got any suggestions on where I can get a kit? Thanks, Chris

Tom & Alan, Thanks for directing me to Then and Now's web site. They seem to be exactly the right source for pump rebuild kits. Much obliged! Chris
