Anyone with tips or experience here? The clock spins, you can adjust the time. it does not seem to want to wind. I think this is the last part of the original systems that is not fully functional and I want it to be. I plan to take it back apart and clean/lube it. hope I can get that winding mechanism moving. Been working on other car projects, and moving back to the '40 the last 2 weeks reminds me just how much fun I have with this car every time I wrench or drive it.

Not certain about a '40, but my New Haven wind up clock in my '38 used the same internal mechanism as the New Haven pocket watches. In any case, any clock repair shop can service your clock. Alan

Alan, you are spot on. The '40 clock is nearly identical in "build" as your '38. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

If the tension on the winding mechanism does not increase and maybe the clock runs for a short time or not at all. It is possible the main spring is broken. Appears you need some service. This message was edited by 40 Coupe on 7-24-24 @ 5:10 AM
