Topic: 1940 Standard Battery Removal

The battery placement is in the standard place. I’m having difficulty trying to remove the existing battery. There seems to be a lip on the battery and a lip on the battery platform.

Any help would be appreciated.

Once you have removed the small retainer bracket which contacts the top of the battery case, you should be able to slide the battery around on the tray to position it so it can be lifted out.

Is this the bracket attached to the firewall? If so, that bracket is attached with a bolt and a large rivet.

large rivet?! Can't picture that. Who and why put that there?

Should be just a bolt thru the firewall, with washer and nut on the inside, under the glove box. There is a recessed hole in the interior insulating panel for access to the nut and washer.

The "large rivet" is the head of the bolt that has a nut on the inside of the car. It takes a 1/2" socket to remove the nut on the inside of the car.
