NEVER bumper guards on the rear of a pickup. They simply were not offered. The front guards were optional. If you choose to install them, the longer, more tapered end goes in the downward position. Be aware please that the reproduction guards do not match the curve of an authentic bumper very well. Mike "Kube" Kubarth
