If memory serves, you do not have the correct lamps. If that's the case, the template you seek will only get you "close". What you really need is the template for your lamps when they were intended to be installed to a '40 Ford. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Conrad, The thread you'd started on the Fordbarn on June 19, included photos of what you have. I suggest you go back to that thread and read my responses which I believe are quite clear as to why your lamps are not correct. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

Lorainne, Appleton and others were not made to be correct, they were after market. Many folks back in the day weren't worried about correctness they just wanted a spotlight. Thanks for the information.

I understand that many lamps were made for your car. You still need to find the template for YOUR lamp. A template for the correct lamp will not be the same. Or do your best to figure it out without a template. That is most likely what 99% of folks do. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

this may help UNITY SPOT LIGJTS are still in business, you may want to contact them, they might be able to sell you new lights it might be worth a try. hope this helps 37Ragtopman
