Topic: 1940 Fordor Package Tray Welt Question...

RAK402    -- 10-11-2022 @ 7:57 AM
I received the new material from Cartouche for the Package Tray in my 1940 Ford Fordor Deluxe (the Lebaron Bonny material covering the tray did not survive storage). The Cartouche headliner material is very, very close to an exact match of the LeBaron Bonney material that came with my kit.

I also received the welt for around the tray (covered in the appropriate headlining material).

It looks like the welt goes all the way around the curved back side of the tray, under the rear window and along the sides up to the back of the rear seat back rest, but should it also be across the back of the seat rest? Or does it terminate at the corners/edges where the back rest intersects the headliner rest on the sides?

If it terminates at the corners/edges where the back rest intersects the headliner rest on the sides, is it just cut off straight, or does the core get removed and the welt get tucked down behind the backrest.

Thank you all in advance.

  Good Morning--

I hope these will help.

Also, take a look at page 2-30 in "It's Ford for "40". Mike gives his usual excellent description of the package tray installation on the different body styles.
