Years ago (I'm 85+ now) when I was about 23; I was told by an older guy- the way to test if it would work. He said to use (2) battery jumper cables; connect one to the arm terminal on the generator, put your foot on the unit; because it would "jump,"and just touch the ground terminal to the case of the generator; if it "motored" it was "good."Please tell me if my memory is okay! (I have one I want to test) Regards, Steve Lee

Although The test you suggest may work I suggest you not do it! Install the generator properly and then test it.

hi Steve you are correct, this is a quick test, you can do this on a engine with the generator belt disconnected, and hands away from the fan and car in neutral. my 2 cents 37 Ragtopman
