Would I be correct to assume that the '40 Ford transmission and rear axle used the 600wt. gear oil? What other options would also work, if any. I know that GL4 gear lubes should be used for transmissions with bronze synchros, so I am staying away from all GL5 lubricants for that reason. Appreciate any feedback.

The 1940 Ford Owner's Manual (Reference Book) states the following: For the transmission use Gear Oil - S.A.E. 90 in the winter and S.A.E 140 in the summer For the rear axle use Mild Extreme Pressure Gear Oil - S.A.E. 90 in the winter and S.A.E. 140 in the summer I use S.A.E. 90 oils in both year round. For the transmission I use A.P.I. GL-1 Gear Oil. For the spiral bevel rear axle I use A.P.I. GL-4 Gear Oil.
