Hi Mike, My key will no longer open the lock ball. So what is the best method of removing the pin that holds the key/cylinder in place? Thanks

I believe most drill it out and then replace with same or slightly larger pin.

Be sure the cylinder is the problem and not the locking pin binding on the steering shaft.

Hi Alan, You are probably right. But to get behind, in order to look at the pin, doesn't one need to take out the key/cylinder first. My key is not moving the lock ball. Or removing the ball's pin underneath to allow access?

Alan, another thing, my key and ignition cylinder is in a horizontal position and not a vertical. Mike's book shows vertical. Thanks Ken

Ken, the pin may bind if the lock is set before you take your foot off the brake pedal, thereby allowing the front wheels to roll a couple inches, turning the steering shaft just enough to bind the locking pin. You can determine this condition and correct it in the same manner as in a modern car, just by pulling against the locked direction of the steering wheel.
