What are your thoughts of adding an oil filter to an otherwise stock flathead in a '40 Ford? Thank you for your thoughts on this.

You can add a partial flow oil filter with no apparent problems if you can be happy with filtering 10 t0 15% of the oil at a time. If you add a full flow oil filter you may encounter problems with too much oil being supplied to the rear main bearing which will cause leakage past the rear main.
