Greetings from Downunder fellow early Ford members. Check…Rear axle sleeves installed. New bearings purchased. This ‘40 rear end has never before been apart. Post high pressure steam cleaning has disintegrated the inner rubber seal of the Rear Axle Inner Grease Retainers. For cross reference purpose, Can someone please post the part number of a reputable replacement? Also, what is the inner diameter of the seal? Regards. I don’t know why the photos are inverted? Removed Rear Axle Inner Grease Retainers are stamped GK Ford.

B-4245 is the P/N that you are looking for. The drawing in the parts catalog makes it look like it is the hub seal, but the hub seal is shown on the Brake Drum drawing. Tom

Thanks for your input Tom. Although I have the B-4245 number from the Ford catalogue, I am chasing a part number for an aftermarket equivalent such as Timken, that I can purchase locally over the counter. This message was edited by ricbel on 9-18-21 @ 3:43 PM

Take your old seal into a bearing supply store and have them look up the number for you. Chicago Rawhide and Timkin used to have an obsolete part number look up, but CR closed theirs in 1990 due to costs. C&G, Dennis Carpenter and Third Gen should be able to provide you with a modern equivalent of the seal and if you go to https://www.rearcounter.com/B-4245-A-parts180532.html you can get the Ford part.
