I was taking apart a 40 Ford hot water heater and the blower fane does not look right. I thought the fan has 6 blades and is this the correct 6 volt heater motor? Thank you in advance for any help you can give. Dave

You are correct the blower motor should have 4 wires coming out of it. Yes the fan impeller is incorrect it should have two impellers one with 6 rectangular shaped blades and circular squirrel cage impeller. Between the two impellers is a cone shaped plate.

You probably have a two speed (non-reversible) fan motor. The pictures I have posted are what I took out of my 40. Six blades, squirrel cage and four wires. Pat’s 40 Ragtop

If the motor works well it can be rewired to make it reversable. The motor wiring harness is reproduced. The switch resistor makes the motor two speed.
