I sprang for a nice new battery this year, so then tried to clean up other associated things that were not correct. Got the battery-to-solenoid cable from one of the usual vendors. It is a Vintique part that appears to me to be not correct. It has a left-ninety end on the cable.(see pic) It should have a straight end for 1940. This is part no. 91A-14300. What does the "A" mean? Is that a service replacement indicator? The vendor's catalog shows this part no. as for '39 -'48. So maybe the later years did have a ninety battery post end, and that explains why there is a ninety on this Vintique piece? Or is it simply that Vintique got it wrong ?

91A is the designation for a 1939 Ford part. The designation would remain on the part until it was redesigned for a later year. IE: a 1939 part may be OK on a 1946 car, but a 1946 part would not be OK on a 1940 car. IMHO Vintique failed to follow the factory design for the cable. They are not the best supplier of reproduction parts. Tom
