Topic: U Joint Issue?

My 40 convertible has a vibration when I am on the throttle, dump the clutch and it stops. Sounds like u joints. My question is this: There are two u joints in the shaft, according to the manual, one in the front and one in the rear. Where is the best place to source these joints. Any tips on "dropping the driveline"?

There is one U-joint located at the back of the transmission.

As 40coupe has correctly noted, there is ONE universal joint at the very rear of the transmission. To replace it is not a difficult task. However, it is a bit time consuming.
You'll need to remove the floor board to access the bolts at the top of the u-joint cover. Once you have disconnected all the requisite fasteners at the back of the transmission, including the removal of the speedometer driver gear housing, you'll need to lower the rear axle as an assembly. That requires disconnecting the middle brake line hose, the shock absorber links and spring. Lower the assembly down enough to roll it back about 8". Now you'll have access to the u-joint.
None of this is as scary as it may sound.

If and when you remove the u-joint and find it (possibly) to be tight, then I'd suggest you replace the driveshaft center bearing.
