Topic: Radio Plastic Color?

I have a Philco and a Zenith radio. Both have been the the 1940 Deluxe at one time or another.

One thing that really stands out to me (and I am color-blind) is that the color of the plastic bezels for the instrument panel and clock match each other, but not the radio bezel. They don't appear to even be close.

Were they originally? That would make more sense (to me).

What you'd noted is correct - the radio bezel is not an exact match in color to the dash knobs. From factory photos (black & white) the shading appears to indicate they were never a perfect match.
Why is methinks anyone's guess.
My guess? Most likely early technology (lack thereof) had much to do with this.
Also, keep in mind, the radios were sourced from outside suppliers and as such (probably) gave up a bit of "quality" control.
