Here is a couple pictures of a mint original 1932 Thur 1935 Ford gas cap. This gas cap was recently sold by a well informed vendor. The vendor explained to me that the 1936 Thur 1940 gas cap is exactly the same except that the '36/ threw '40 cap is vented. Notice how the curved surface waterfalls right off the edge with no step. I asked the vendor if the cap was chromed stainless or chromed steel. I Know that all the stainless steel trim on the 1950's cars was flash chromed to save time instead of trying to Polish the stainless steel moldings. Does anyone have any pictures of an "original" 1940 Ford non-locking gas cap if so could you please post them. Domenic
