Mike, Tom or anybody can you tell me who the original manufactures were that produced the gas caps for the 1940 Ford's. Was the Everseal #1603 or Stant #G25 or the #749 from the Badger tool & Mfg. Co. Chicago. U.S.A. Are any of these correct? Domenic This message was edited by thunder road on 11-9-17 @ 10:48 AM

The one in the photo does not appear to be correct. However, pictures are not the best source to inspect minor details. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

I can't seem to take a good picture. Not one with enough clear detail that would help. I can tell you this: The outer edge had a rolled knurl to aid in gripping. This 14 pitch (14 per inch) knurl was approximately .210” wide. The inner steel pieces were cadmium plated. A brown fiber gasket provided the seal between the filler tube and cap. Being a vented type design, a .090” diameter hole centered in the rivet was only visible when the cap was removed. Mike "Kube" Kubarth
