Looking for expert advice (Larry Caplan?)... Was there originally welt or anti-squeak material between the board and fenders on a 40 pickup truck? Thanks. Mike "Kube" Kubarth

While this is not the actual answer for 1940 -- here is a picture of a very original 1936 Ford pickup - running board / rear fender. You can see welting between fender and box, but not at fender / running board. I will tell you that one of my rear fenders that I have in the attic has the anti-squeak material where the fender attaches to the running board. There was just enough left to see that it was there.

Thank you. I am now fairly certain thanks to you and one other fellow that replied that there was a piece of anti-squeak material between the board and fenders. NOT beaded welt, but "flat" anti-squeak. Mike "Kube" Kubarth
