Topic: Choke rod

I have a 40 Ford FDR Delux I need to know how to get the throttlr and choke rods through the fire wall correctly. These are new and do not come apart as far as I can tell. I do not want to destroy one of them by proceeding incorrectly.

You'll need to remove the rubber grommet in the firewall prior to removing the choke rod. Then, remove the screw that holds the rod to the knob - located just beneath the lip of your instrument panel.
Finally disconnect the rod at the carburetor link.

Once you've removed that grommet and screw as well as the attachment at the carburetor, simply work the rod out through the engine compartment.
Installation is just the opposite of removal.

I would suggest you attach the new rod at the carburetor and manually place the choke in the full open position. Then, push the dash control knob all the way inward. Finally, install the screw through the new rod - into the knob. This should allow accurate positioning of the dash control.
